NEW! Santa Susana Field Lab Update (February 15, 2008). Read more. The partial nuclear meltdown at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL) in 1959 and rocket testing on the site over many years, combined with the illegal disposal of toxic materials there, have created potential health risks for neighbors in the area, some of whom are constituents of the 23rd State Senate district. Learn more about SSFL.
This pamphlet explains how to effectively participate in the legislative, or law-making, process. The legislative process is most effective when people share their views with their elected representatives. By lobbying, average citizens can influence an elected official's position on an issue. Welcome to my website! I am honored to serve the people of the 23rd District in the California State Senate. This site is designed to help you learn more about me and the work I am doing on your behalf. I am always happy to hear from my constituents about any State-related matters, such as experiences with State agencies, ideas for new legislation, and information about issues, etc. You are welcome to phone, write or send me an email. E-mails will be acknowledged, but, since we get hundreds, sometimes thousands, a day, if you are a constituent and you'd like a personal answer, please phone or write. I love serving you in the legislature and look forward to all the good work we can do together. Sheila James Kuehl Senator, 23rd District
